Teams must make every effort to commit to their scheduled matches. If you need to reschedule a match for any reason apart from weather or emergency circumstances, which needs to be agreed in advance by contacting the Island Padel team, then you will have to do this using the normal booking system at your own expense. In the event of a reschedule, teams must inform their opposing team 24 hours before their scheduled match. Failure to do any of the above the team rescheduling will forfeit that match.
General Format:
1.Players are assigned to courts 1(a) or 2(b).
2.Scoring: First to 6 games wins set, except tie-breaker which is played at 5-5. All Matches will be the best of 3 sets.
3.Rules of the “Tie-break”: During a Tie-break, the point system is numeric. The first side to reach 7 points, with a 2-point clearance needed at 5-5 and so on to win the “Tie-break” and convert the set. A set ending in a Tie-break decision will be won by 7-6.
4. The winning team is responsible for recording the exact number of games won by each team per set and then preferably you enter your results via www.sportyhq.com. If you have any issues with this please contact the Island Padel team via the Leagues email address.
5. There will be a maximum of 3 sets if it is 1 set all. When the score is even at one set all, a championship tie-break game can be played to decide the winner. This championship tie-break is final and replaces the last set. The first pair to win ten points wins the tie-break and the match. If it is 9 points all then a ‘golden point’ will be played to decide the match.
6. Please spin to see who will serve at the beginning of the match.
7. If a match/set is not completed within the time allocated of 1 hour then the team that is in the lead with most games in the last set will claim the win for the last set played if both teams have the same amount of games then a draw will be declared.
8. Each team will only play one match each . Unless the admin has confirmed otherwise.
9. The “no advantage” (gold point) will be used as an alternative scoring method when the score is deuce. This is a sudden death scenario and is used as a way of speeding up a match result.
10. The receiving pair will choose whether to receive the service on the right or the left side of the court. The receiving pair cannot change positions to receive the deciding point. The pair that wins the point wins the game.
11. In mixed doubles matches however, the receiver must be of the same sex as the server. The receiving players cannot change positions to receive serve.
Scoring System:
1. 1 point per set won + 3 bonus points for a match.
2. Each team will receive 1 point for any set (including third championship Tie break set) a player wins. Then, the winner of each match will earn three bonus points for their team. Teams that play all matches ,will receive 5 bonus points.
