  • Ali Farag def James Willstrop 3-1 (11-2, 5-11, 11-8, 11-7)

The crowd was treated to 3 high-quality matches on night 2:

First up was the French sensation Camille Serme against upset queen and Bellevue resident Reeham Sedky.  Camille slowed the tempo down, and it was very effective.  Lobbing, dropping, great length made it difficult for Reeham to play at her dominant fast pace. Camille took the match in three, 11-5, 11-7, 12-10.

Raneem El Welily made her debut in the event tonight against Joelle King.    Joelle had been the victor in their last two encounters, so on paper their matchup was looking like there could be another upset.  It seemed that way after the first game, with Joelle grabbing the first game 11-9.  Joelle came out with guns ablaze, while Raneem looked a bit unsettled.   In the second Raneem got her rhythm and controlled play. She took it 11-5.

Third was Raneem controlling the rallies once again, winning 11-7.  In the fourth, Joelle fought back, playing the drop well and keeping Raneem off the T.  The game could have gone either way, with Joelle having game points, but Raneem snatched it 14-12.  It was a very high-quality match

The last match, was very exciting and was the best men’s match in the event so far. Ali was very strong in the first, winning 11-2.   in the second James accuracy and deception and all around skills were on display.  James took the second 11-5.  In the third, long rallies, with both players working very hard were on display.  Ali seemed to have a little more stamina, which helped him pull through.  In the fourth, exciting rallies, (James executing triple fakes), and the players running corner to corner.  Ali lasted just a bit longer to take game 11-8, and the match 3-1.
